Dental/Whole Body Connection
An Energy Medicine Short Summary
Did you know that your occlusion or the way your teeth come together is the self-correcting mechanism for your 28 skull bones, spine, pelvis, and sacrum?
That’s right. Your teeth are the stabilizing factor in the structural stability of your body. Unfortunately, most dentists, chiropractors, osteopaths, and even medical doctors have no idea of the significance of this relationship. One clue that your bite is off is if your chiropractic or osteopathic adjustments do not hold. Also if you ever had braces on your teeth or a lot of dental work the chances are great that your cranium and spine are misaligned because of the alteration of your bite. In addition, if you had a whiplash injury, the probability that your bite was altered is great. Also of significance is the fact that if you have a pronated foot or flat feet this distortion will cause a rotation of your temporal bone and can be the cause for your TMJ pain or bite problem.
The human body has two foundations: your feet and the maxilla or upper “jaw.” When either or both are out of alignment, everything in-between will compensate. Functional anatomy is one area that is not taught in professional schools because the professors are not aware of the interrelationships.
A case in point was a young lady who suffered 20 years with hiatal pain and three years with facial pain. The facial pain started after an immediate full upper denture was inserted. A combination of the trauma of extracting the teeth and structural distortion resulting from processing the acrylic denture torqued or twisted her skull. In addition, she had a left pronated foot. In two hours of treatment, she was totally pain free. Why? Because here pronated feet were supported with special soft orthotic inserts; then she underwent a comprehensive cranial adjustment to realign her skull bones; then her upper denture was relined to stabilize her cranium; and finally, tooth colored resin material was bonded to her upper denture teeth to level her horizontal plane. In reality, she had a major realignment of her entire body.
The takeaway message is that patients in chronic pain must be assessed globally. An integrated approach must be used to correct the structural instability in order to remove the tension on the spinal nerves and cranial sutures.
