Adrenal Fatigue is Real
An Energy Medicine Short Summary
Did you know that craving salty foods and requiring coffee in the morning or throughout the day are signs of adrenal fatigue?
That’s right. When your adrenals are exhausted they excrete excess sodium via the urine. You crave salty foods to replace the lost sodium and drink coffee throughout the day to stimulate your adrenals. The most common symptoms of adrenal exhaustion are: chronic fatigue, difficulty waking up or trouble falling asleep, cravings for salt, sugar, or caffeine, brain fog or difficulty concentrating, mood swings, irritability, or mild depression, systemic inflammation, low energy despite rest, or feeling "wired but tired,” low blood pressure, dizziness, or lightheadedness, sensitivity to bright light, weak immune system, and muscle weakness.
Unfortunately, conventional medicine does not believe adrenal exhaustion exists. Common sense and 55 years of clinical experience has convinced me that it is a real issue. Low cortisol levels in adrenal insufficiency impairs the body's ability to properly control inflammation or fight infections. If you experience a cluster of these symptoms, you must support your adrenals nutritionally. In addition, you may also have an under active thyroid that’s contributing to your fatigue and other symptoms. The key food based supplements include: vitamin C, B-complex, vitamin E, omega 6 and omega 3 oils, protein, trace minerals, and a good adaptogen like cordyceps, ashwagandha, Lion’s mane, Chaga, Shiitake, Maitake, and Reishi mushrooms. These adaptogenic herbs allow the adrenal glands to recuperate and heal. I recommend you check out ICNR’s website, ICNR.com, for quality food base nutrients.
